The Galactic Empire consists of thousands of worlds caught in the iron grip of tyranny.

Its history is one of fear: the Empire has many weapons in its arsenal; tyranny, oppression, vast fleets, overwhelming armies, superior technology, but mostly, fear and distrust. Distrust of individuals keeps people from organizing. Fear keeps individual worlds and systems in line, with constant surviellance and secret reports to the government.

The Empire was formed by Palpatine, built on the ruins of the Old Republic. With his Deathstars, and his Fleets, and Lord Darth Vader leading his reborn Sith, he dominated all the worlds of the Galaxy. (For in the FoE universe, Palpatine managed to survive the destruction of the second Deathstar at Endor, as did Darth Vader, who was brought back into the Imperial fold.)

The Empire is now run by his Daughter, Anelis Palpatine, who engineered her own succession to the throne. Her tyranny is even more oppressive than that of the Emperors. If you love power, and the benefits of power, to quote Lord Vader, "We would be honored if you would join us..."
